Looe

The beautiful historic fishing Town of Looe is a short stroll along the coastline. West Looe offers a variety of Shops, Cafes and Restaurants. Tide permitting you can catch the River Ferry Boat across to East Looe or you can continue to stroll along the Quayside, admiring the array of boats in the Harbour. Across the Bridge is East Looe. Shops, Cafes, Restaurants and local Amenities fill this this beautiful Cornish Town. Local Fishing Fleets operate in East Looe Harbour, they are a source of interest to visitors who sit and capture the activities in and along the river.

Activities in Looe

  • Boat trips are available from the Harbour side. Glass bottom boats, coastline and river trips, fishing trips and of course trips to Looe's beautiful St Georges Island.
  • Looe's sandy beach sits at the heart of Looe Town which celebrates many events throughout the year.
  • Looe Valley Railway runs along the estuary and captures the river wildlife on its journey to Liskeard.
  • Crabbing is great fun with children and there are plenty of shops selling buckets and lines. Tip to help fill your bucket, the crabs prefer bacon to bait!

Eating out in Looe

Looe has many cafes and restaurants with local seafood a highlight of most menus. Our favourite restaurant is The Sardine Factory, situated overlooking the harbour in West Looe, a 10 minute walk away. The Catch on the Quay serves the best take away fish and chips. For fresh fish Pengelley’s is open every day, and don’t leave Looe without trying a delicious homemade pasty from Sarah’s and Treleavens Ice Cream parlour.

Days out

Looe is ideally situated to explore many areas of Cornwall. A short journey will take you to fabulous beaches, fascinating Cornish Towns, Heritage and Stately Homes and Parks, The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
